Knight to D7
I was playing around with the D7 chord (0 2 1 0) and I remember seeing a video of Patrick's where he plays a pretty basic version of Red River Valley with just that chord using a combination of open and fretted strings, but did not explain exactly which strings to pick and which ones to fret and so on. I was practicing this morning and it took a long while, but I figured it out! this makes me feel good about myself because I thought it was so awesome that I could do that after having the banjo for only a matter of months. Now I have to tackle getting my hands to do different things easier and maybe faster, and once I get that down pat maybe I'll be able to sing without messing up.

Bloggonit!
I have a bonafide blog now! That's right, screw you Myspace! but unlike my mewling over there, I will try to steer the posts here in one direction. What is that you ask? My banjo and folk music in general. I got my Fender banjo on a whim at the local Spokane Guitar Center in or around late August. I think I paid $375 for it. They had a Deering there, but that was out of my range. That's almost 4 months now and I try to practice every day. I only know about 4 and a half songs...
I'd like to dedicate this blog to Patrick Costello, who has an amazing Youtube channel and inspires thousands to pick up their instruments and play along. Check it out!-> Dobro33H.<- Patrick has recently fallen Ill and lost his hearing, but he'll be fine and making videos in a week or so.
